Expertizes

The company A.W.A.L. s.r.o. has been active on the Czech and European market for building insulation and building physics expertizes since 1990, when it was founded under the name AWAL – building insulation. Since 1996, the company has been operating under the name A.W.A.L. s.r.o.

A.W.A.L. s.r.o. is specialized in building envelope expertizes, especially roofing systems, building substructures and facades, including some civil engineering structures. With the guidance of expert witness Ing. Marek Novotný, PhD., we have capabilities in wide range of studies in the field of construction waterproofing and building physics.
A.W.A.L. s.r.o. is also equipped with impedance defectoscopy devices, which is non-destructive method for determining moisture condition of structures.
A.W.A.L. s.r.o. cooperates with leading Czech universities of technologies (CTU in Prague, Brno University of Technology, Technical University of Liberec) which provides laboratory analysis services.

Very important part of our services is inspections of all above-mentioned types of structures, consulting and identification of defects, proposals of remedial works.
A.W.A.L. s.r.o. has capability of providing reports in English, German or Russian.
A.W.A.L. s.r.o. specialists are able to provide our services also abroad, especially in all EU countries.

Scope of our activities:

  • Consulting and expertizes in terms of construction waterproofing and building physics and acoustics
  • Engineering and design of waterproofing solutions
  • Construction documents preparation
  • Supervisions of constructions works i.e. waterproofing systems, ETICS facades, etc.
  • Conducting of surveys with core sampling of roof structures and analysis of taken samples
  • Aerial surveys with using a drone

Impedance defectoscopy

Impedance defectoscopy is non-destructive method for determining moisture condition of material. Impedance is measure of opposition to a sinusoidal alternating electric current. A low frequency electronic signal is generated and transmitted between electrodes incorporated in scanner. The conductivity of measured material is significantly dependent on the amount of moisture. Impedance defectoscopy uses impedance properties of material to analyze them. This method is suitable for non-destructive humidity detection in materials with low conductivity. This method allows monitoring of comparative moisture content value under the coatings of structures (roofing, insulated facades, flooring). Analytical impedance defectoscopy is thorough systematic measurement in entire surface of inspected construction. The output of this measurement can be moisture map or map of defects, which gives a comprehensive overview of construction moisture conditions. Based on this outputs, likely leaks can be located and also extent of necessary disassembly of roof layers (thermal insulation, e.g.) due to loss of functionality can be determined.

Tramex DEC SCANNER

The Tramex DEC SCANNER is a non-destructive impedance moisture scanner designed for detecting and evaluating moisture conditions in roofing and waterroofing systems. DEC SCANNER has 3 ranges of sensitivity to enable the surveying of a variety of roof types and roofing depths, and is equipped to detect moisture in the majority of roofing and waterproofing systems. The DEC SCANNER is battery powered, electronic instrument, that generates a low frequency electronic signal. This signal is transmitted into the material under test via one of the two electrodes incorporated in it. The other electrode receives the signal that is transmitted through the material under test. The strength of this signal is varies in proportion to the amount of moisture in the material under test. The DEC SCANNER determines the strength of the current and converts it to a comparative moisture value. By moving the DEC SCANNER across a roofing surface in a regular pattern, a continuous reading is obtained, and any areas that contain moisture can be readily identified.
